Assumes equal-sized disks. For mixed sizes, enter the capacity of the smallest disk.

What the estimate includes

Capacity is calculated before formatting, metadata and controller reservations. 1 TB = 1,000 GB; 1 TiB = 1,024 GiB. RAID 1 mirrors across all active disks, while RAID 10 uses disk pairs.

RAID 5E and 5EE include one disk equivalent of distributed spare capacity. A hot spare does not increase immediate fault tolerance. RAID does not replace a backup.
